Pilates Exercise

Pilates is a set of principles and movements to target the core, working with resistance and aims to improve your strength, flexibility, co-ordination and posture.  By participating in a class on a regular basis it can improve back pain, sleep, make muscles look leaner and longer and tone your tummy.
Joseph Pilates founded Pilates back in the 1800s.  Growing up he was a sickly child so explored different ways to get better through a range of sports.  He designed a programme of exercises to work on the smaller muscles that we cannot see focusing on the stabilising muscles that support the joints.  As the spine is the fundamental unit in the body, we need to strengthen all the muscles around it.

The classes can be tailored to meet your own needs and are designed for the complete beginner to more advanced levels and can be found at Complete Health & Fitness, East Street, Braintree with Teresa Harman one of our level 3 coaches.  Sessions on Mondays at 7.00 p.m. and Thursdays 9.30 a.m. or at Bramston Sports Centre, Witham, Tuesdays at 7.45 p.m.
